Year 4 Geography Field Trip

On the last Saturday of the Lent Term Year 4 went on a trip to the River Enborne near Brimpton. We went with Miss Pinder, Miss Illingworth, Mr Smith and Miss Hall. When we got there we did a risk assessment sheet telling us about the dangers of a river. Next we drew a sketch diagram of a massive meander in the river. When Miss Pinder asked us what sort of things we could see in or near the river, Tristan shouted’ “There’s a dead swan!” and pointed at a shape further upstream. When we looked closely at it, though, we realised it wasn’t a swan but a pile of sticks surrounded by whitish frothy foam. We all burst out laughing, we thought it was hilarious at the time!  After a little walk along the river banks, we split up into smaller groups and played Pooh Sticks to see where the river flowed fastest. After that we went back to the buses and returned to school. We enjoyed the outing and seeing some of the features of rivers we had learned about over the term.
