Act of Remembrance

The Act of Remembrance at 11 o’clock today was particularly poignant as we commemorated the Centenary of World War One.  The Elstree Flag donated by the 2014 leavers was lowered to half-mast and ceramic poppies made by the boys were positioned at the base of the flag pole to commemorate the Elstree boys who lost their lives in World War I and II.  Freddie Crofts, Ben Whittaker, Jack Kidson and Toby Jones, the eldest boy from each house, laid a cross on behalf of their house, and Mrs Tilley laid a wreath to represent the staff.  Mr Smith played the bagpipes and Jamie Jones, Harry Campbell-Walter and Johnny Inglis played the Last Post and Reveille from the roof as the school stood below in silence and contemplation.
