Year 7 visit Royal Academy
Year 7 visited the “Sensing Spaces: The Architectural Exhibition” at the Royal Academy in London which presented a series of specially commissioned architectural installations, the work of seven of the world’s leading contemporary architectural practices.
The boys were invited to observe, touch, adapt and engage with the installations and were encouraged to think about architecture as the art form that most directly affects our day-to-day life and the way that we interact with the architecture around us. One Year 7 boy, Michael Wyrley-Birch said, ‘I liked Kengo Kuma’s piece: it was so elegant the way he had bent the bamboo to make it appealing to the eye, it was also infused with a scent which was very interesting’
The boys will be using their experience back in the Art room to inspire their new project this term.
