Year 7 Big Weekend
The Year 7s have just enjoyed a memorable Big Weekend. Saturday afternoon started with boys either piling into the Common Room to watch England beat Scotland in the Six Nations, or heading out to the astro for some five a side footie, or playing a game of squash.
After supper they got into racing mode with a fantastic ‘Race Night’ in the McMullen Hall. The two Andys (Prichard and Livermore) acted as bookies for the night, while Steve ‘Safe Bet’ Bates was our commentator as he guided the boys through the runners and riders. A frenetic couple of hours followed as boys watched the thrills and spills of eight races and urged on the runners and riders. The commentators were drowned out with hysterical shrieking in the final furlongs of each race. Henry Axtell emerged as our top tipster accumulating a whopping £50,000 on the last race – if only it was real money!
On Sunday morning the boys split into two groups. We welcomed Tom Ward, former Elstree Head of Science, who entertained the boys in Plantation with a brilliant game of Laser Tag, whilst the other half played the ever popular Indoor Lions with Mr Prichard. After a hot chocolate break, the two groups swapped over. A roast lunch and a five-a-side football tournament followed in the afternoon before the boys settled down and relaxed in front of the latest instalment of Percy Jackson and some Winter Olympics highlights. What a great weekend!
