Year 7 Big Weekend

Ready, steady, cook was a huge success. The pupils prepared and cooked a scrumptious meal of rosti, chicken and vegetable kebabs, garlic flatbreads, and topped off with yummy chocolate chip cookies! While their food was in the oven they were led through the story and tradition of Christmas pudding, by our very enthusiastic Head Chef Chris. The first batch of Elstree Christmas pudding was mixed together. Each pupil was given a chance to give the batter a stir and make a wish. Chef Chris announced team two as the winners of the overall ‘Chef’s Prize’ for skill, teamwork, and presentation of their meal. They will enjoy a three course meal, that they have chosen on Thursday 16th November as their prize. Thanks to Rob in our catering team for organising this! With this concluding the dinner, the pupils gathered in the hall to be given a giant sparkler. They cast spells and drew their names in the air, the circle at the front of the school was filled with sparkles in the night. After much excitement they retired for a wash, teeth brush, and jumped into their PJ’s, snuggling down for movies in their common rooms.

 

At 7am sleepy eyes, finished their movies all wrapped up in duvets before heading downstairs for a full English breakfast in pyjamas, prepared by our wonderful catering team. After breakfast there was a race upstairs to get dressed and ready for the first ever Elstree Outdoor Olympics organised by the awesome Mr Varney. The pupils competed in teams and individual events such as standing long-jump, backwards racing, the egg (golf ball) and spoon relays, and a crossbar challenge were a few of the events held. Our star gappers were also seen competing in a backwards race. The year seven pupils were wonderful company, providing many giggles for the staff. They got stuck in and enjoyed the time with their friends.
