Year 6 Visit Reading Mosque
On Wednesday, 18th May Year 6 visited Reading Mosque to complement their learning in RS. They met Ahmed, the mosque’s imam, who fielded a barrage of questions from our intrepid eleven year olds. ‘What do the moon and star represent on your flag?’ ‘What do Muslims believe about Jesus?’ ‘Why are there lines on the floor?’ How come this carpet is so thick?’ ‘What’s the dome for?’ Ahmed was excellent.
We saw the washing rooms, had a good tour of the different gathering rooms and headed to the classroom to enjoy an early buns – fruit shoots and crisps. What’s not to like? We always enjoy the tranquillity of this mosque and are grateful to them for their hospitality and generosity, and we look forward to next year!
