Year 3 Trip to The Imperial War Museum

To enhance our knowledge of the Second World War, this term’s history topic, Year 3 pupils were treated to a trip to the newly refurbished Imperial War Museum. After a delayed two-and-a-half journey we were bursting to get off the coach and get cracking on being time detectives.

Our first activity was exploring artefacts from World War Two. There were six stations to investigate ranging from gas masks to toys and fire fighting equipment to activities to while away the time in the Anderson shelter. After a rather scrumptious packed lunch we headed off to explore the first floor of the museum and to learn more about the effects of the Second World War on ordinary civilians. Some pupils also got to look at displays from other wars and conflicts. All very exciting and thought provoking.
