Spreading love on Valentine’s Day

Elstree Pre-Prep’s week started with a themed assembly (watch here) about Valentine’s Day and St. Valentine.

Keen to spread even more love and happiness this year, Miss Holifield  set her pupils a Valentine’s Day secret mission.

Reception’s secret mission

Mrs O’Neill tasked Reception with making and writing a secret Valentine’s Day card for a member of their family. This was the perfect opportunity for the children to express their love and gratitude for their family’s support during lockdown three.

Year 1 and 2’s secret mission

Meanwhile, Year 1 and 2 joined Miss Holifield for a live Teams session to discuss their secret mission.

Knowing how much the children have been missing their friends, Miss Holifield shared the exciting news that every child in Year 1 and 2 would receive the name and address of one of their friends via email.

The children then had to create a card and write a message that would make their friend smile. Once complete and in their addressed envelope, they needed to find the nearest post box.

Love through the Letterbox on Valentine’s Day

Miss Holifield also talked to the children about the ‘Love through the Letterbox Initiative’, launched by West Berkshire Council.

After the success of sending care home residents a Christmas card, the Council decided to repeat the initiative for Valentine’s Day.

Miss Holifield said: “It’s key dates like this that reiterate the importance of staying connected and strong as a community.

It’s thanks to the support from teachers and parents, that Pre-Prep has enjoyed making an extra Valentine’s card this year. They’ve all helped to spread the love that little bit further.”
