The Friends of Elstree keeps its promise to Dingley’s

This week, Chair of Friends of Elstree – Lizzie Johnstone – and Olivia Inglis – Headmaster’s wife – presented a cheque for £1,200.00 to local charity Dingley’s Promise.

Dingley’s is a small centre in Newbury that supports children under 5 with additional needs and disabilities. Their mission is to deliver life changing support to children and their families through specialist learning, training and advice.  Sixty percent of Dingley’s is funded by charitable donations.

Friends of Elstree is a committee of voluntary parents from Elstree School, who work tirelessly to raise funds for local charities.  This year they chose Dingley’s Promise.

The money was raised through a series of charity initiatives involving parents, staff and children. They included an apple juice collection, Bonfire and fireworks night, book swap, copper coin collection, Colditz-style adventure and summer fete.

Lizzie Johnstone said: “The Friends of Elstree would not work without the generous time and effort given by each year rep. We cannot think of a better local charity to support than Dingley’s Promise. I would like to personally thank all the committee, parents, staff and children at Elstree School for helping to make this happen.”
