The Big Boarding Brew

Friday evening saw the first of the remote Boarding events take place – the ‘Big Boarding Brew’.

What is The Big Boarding Brew?

Head of Boarding Mr Hepburn and his wife Mrs Hepburn, often welcome groups of boarders into their home once or twice a week during term. It’s a chance to catch up over hot chocolate, rice crispy cakes and other ‘goodies’. These events are known as ‘Brews’.

Mr Hepburn says: “We love to hear how our boarders are getting on, not just in the House, but also in the school more widely.  It’s a great opportunity to chat informally in a more relaxed and ‘homely’ environment.

We’ve really missed these weekly catch-ups, so we thought we’d ask all the boarders to have their own ‘Brew’ at home.  It was wonderful to see so many of the Elstree boarding community join in with the ‘Big Boarding Brew’.  Thank you to everyone who kindly sent their photos.”

The other events scheduled for the boarders for this half of term are:

Friday 29th January  – Boarders’ Clubs and Board Games for Boarders

The boarders participate in clubs in the evenings, and this evening is all about recreating some of the fun that the children have at school. Things to try: Nerf gun wars, German Spotlight (torchlight games in the garden), backgammon, Hama beads or cooking.

Friday 5th February  – Boarders’ Fancy Dress Dinner Party

This one is all about dressing up. Host a proper dinner party and see if the children can either make a three-course meal, cook one of the courses, or just be willing sous-chefs. Get all dressed up, get some music going and have some fun. Suggested themes are:

 • ‘70s Disco

•On Safari

• Hollywood (or Bollywood!?)

• Après ski at the chalet Anyway
