Snow Day

What fun!  The boys have been fabulous and entered fully into the spirit of yesterday’s snow day.   In the morning they split into groups for a variety of activities:  cooking scones, making liquorice allsorts in art, dodgeball in the Sports Hall, beat the bell  (Mr Livermore’s version of hide and seek around the house), making toboggans and snowboards in DT… to name a few.

After lunch and rest they headed out for a mass snowball fight on the front lawn, followed by time to test out their newly created snowboards and toboggans on the Bates hill and in Park.  Snowballs flew and the boys whizzed down the hills (some more successfully than others).  They headed back (via pizzas courtesy of Mr Attwood in the outdoor pizza oven) and an impromptu game of cricket broke out on the Front Lawn.

As the light dropped, they came inside for hot chocolate and a chance to warm up by the fire, before a session of board games in the library, table tennis in the McMullen Hall, games in the Sports Hall or corridor cricket on Uppers.  There was plenty of chatter over pre-supper drinks for all boys and staff the Front Hall where several boys announced it was their ‘best day ever at Elstree’  or ‘the second best day at Elstree… the wolf day was the best!’  After supper the boys settled down for a relaxing evening.

This morning Mr Prichard lead a lovely service in the Front Hall (thank you to Mrs Williams on the piano) and his sermon involving snow (purity) and iodine (sin) was most appropriate.  The boys are now in activities with some small group lessons taking place for the senior boys.
