Scorching Saturday’s Summer Concert and Fete

As temperatures soared in to the early thirties this Saturday afternoon, Elstree School Summer Concert and Fete got underway.

The shade under the trees provided a welcome break from the sun for everyone to relish this year’s Summer Concert. Needless to say, the wide array of musical talent was outstanding. Soon after, rugs and chairs were set up by parents and friends of Elstree, and picnics were enjoyed.

Following lunch, the Elstree community headed to yard, awash with a sea of gazebos and a hive of lawn activities.  These included welly-wanging, beat the goalie, put through the hole, stocks, sumo wrestling, toy tombola, bottle tombola and more.  With clear blue skies and scorching sun, it was no surprise that the ice-cream van proved to be very popular this year.

Particular thanks go to The Friends of Elstree Committee, who did a fantastic job to organise the event. Thanks also to the Year 7 boys for their enormous help and assistance.

The fete was a great opportunity to raise funds for one of our local charities – Dingley’s Promise – who had kindly visited the school during assembly this week.
