Scholars’ Architecture Project
The Year 8 Scholars have been working on an architecture project in their maths lessons for the past few weeks. The brief was to create a matchstick house. They worked on the project all the way through from taking the brief, searching for inspiration, conceiving the original creative idea, putting together the technical drawings, preparing power point presentation and of course the actual construction of the matchstick houses. This was a project to test mathematical ability, creativity and DT. There was a fantastic variety of finished houses, from very light modern contructions to the more traditional symmetrical houses. Each boy gave a presentation and Hattie Harley (Year 8 mother and architect) very kindly came in to judge and to give some constructive feedback. Well done to our budding Year 8 architects!
