Thursday 8th March was a day that had been in the Early Years children’s minds for a while! When the day finally arrived, it was not weather that would have been appreciated by Owen Farrell! It was at least dry but the breeze had picked up.
The children were suitably dressed and taken down to Bates for an afternoon of Rugby Tots fun! Luckily shortly after we arrived the sun shone and the wind dropped, perfect practicing weather for the amazing Year 8 Rugby Tour boys leading the event and for all the budding rugby stars of the future. A wonderful range of activities had been set up from try score practicing and throwing and catching, to tackling and tag rugby.
The Year 8 boys were a huge credit to the school and doted on by both the Home Farm children and those visiting the school. The pure delight on the children’s faces was a joy to observe, something noted by many of the parents watching. As I said to one Mummy, if they are not tired from running then they will be exhausted from all the laughing. To sum the afternoon up, I cannot think of a better way for a group of children to spend an afternoon. Great thanks must go to Mr Bates, Mr Morris and Mrs Gauci for organising the extravaganza and the Elstree boys who were so incredible with the little ones.
