Royal correspondence

As Year 3 have been studying World War 2 this term, all the children in 3CMK wrote a letter to a relative or family friend who grew up during or shortly after WW2.

They asked their recipients to share their memories and experiences of that era. They also decided that they would like to write to the Queen.

In their letter to Her Royal Majesty, they asked her questions about the part she played during the war. They wanted to know how old she was, whether she needed to evacuate, where she lived, whether she had an Anderson Shelter in her garden, and if she could still get sweets.

Besides each child receiving a letter back, with some fantastic comments, they received an impressive letter from Buckingham Palace. The Queen’s Lady-in-Waiting kindly responded on HRM’s behalf, sharing some insightful facts about the Queen’s experiences during WW2.
