Reception trip to Hillier Garden Centre

On Friday 30th April Reception had a fabulous morning at Hillier Garden centre.  We got in the mini bus at school and drove the short distance to Hermitage.

The first flowers we saw were a riot of colours. We loved looking at the flower section and some of them smelled really beautiful. We made use of some of the benches on display, where we had a small snack and drink-always an important part of a trip! We went to the fruit tree area and looked to see what fruit we could spot on the labels. We found apples, pears, plums and cherries.  It made us feel hungry all over again!

Next we came to the vegetable plants. We wanted to get some veg to grow in our vegetable plot at school. It was hard to decide which to buy. In the end we chose strawberries, peas, tomatoes, sweet peas, onions, leeks and courgette.

We discovered that the garden centre sells lots of things for the garden apart from plants.  There were some interesting little statues and lots of pots!  Finally we got to the shop where we found the seed displays.  It was amazing to see how many different plants we could grow from seeds. We are looking forward to watching them grow.  We all helped to pay for our plants and seeds and then we hopped on the bus and went back to school for a well-earned lunch. What a fabulous morning!
