Radley Orchestral Day

Around 90 instrumentalists attended the Radley orchestral Day including 5 Elstree boys playing cello, bass, clarinet, violin and cello.  The day started with sectional rehearsals and gradually the groups came together to form a large orchestra which made the most exhilarating sound in the Silk Hall under the direction of the Radley music precentor.   The boys ate and drank well, met with former Elstree boy and music exhibitioner Harry who joined in the proceedings with his oboe, and the day ended with tea and a concert for parents, the finale of which was Mussorgsky’s rousing ‘Night on a Bare Mountain’. The boys worked extremely hard and the Year 8 boys gained a lot from meeting some of their future music tutors.
