Pre-Prep four-a-side football teams managed by Year 8

The children in Year 1 and 2 had the most wonderful afternoon playing four-a-side football matches against each other. This was the first time that many of the children have ever played a competitive game of football, and all of the spectators were very impressed by their skills. The children got better at finding a space, looking up, passing the ball to a team mate, shooting and saving goals.

Mr Morris kindly led the event and each team was managed by a Year 8 pupil. The ‘managers’ gave advice to the players in their teams and helped to position them on the field. Luckily, there were also two referees from Year 8 to help to keep the play moving and fair.

Congratulations to the winning Dolphin Team – Charlie, George M, Timi and George R – successfully managed by Year 8 Oliver.

After the matches, the children enjoyed an iced bunny biscuit which the catering team kindly delivered. Every player was also awarded a mini Elstree football to remind them of their incredible day.

“I thought I wasn’t very good at football, but I was.” – Ned in Year 1

“That was fun!” – Archie in Year 2
