Pre-Prep Poetry Performance

On Monday Morning, Pre-Prep had their annual Poetry Performance, and what a way to start the week! Children had been asked to learn a poem over the February half term and each class listened to all of the poems in their English lessons for the week. The teachers then had the very difficult task of choosing the finalists from each class to perform on Monday to teachers, parents and Mr Owens, who came to watch and give feedback to the children on their performances.

The children who performed their poems in the Long Room on Monday all delivered an amazing rendition of the poem that they had learnt. We listened to a wide selection of poems, from traditional nursery rhymes, to poems about penguins, knights, the seasons and even aliens! Johnny had written his own poem with lots of rhyme and rhythm, which was fantastic to hear. One of the performers, Iris, said that she felt a bit nervous before performing, but once she had finished, she would love to do it all over again!

After all of the poets had performed, they all received some very informative and helpful feedback from Mr Owens, who was very impressed and said that some of the skills shown by the Pre-Prep children were those that Year 7 and 8 children were still developing.

Well done to all of the children who learnt and performed their poems, you all did the Pre-Prep very proud.
