Performing Arts Soiree

On Friday evening we were treated to a fantastic blend of music, drama and poetry in our Performing Arts Soiree.  Ably compered by Luca in our beautiful Long Room, we knew we were in for a special evening.  Tom wowed us with ‘Jiguadon’ and then ‘The King’s Juell’, Carlo is surely destined for great things as he showed his skill on drums and guitar with two of his own compositions ‘Funk Chill’ and ‘Jazz Solo Melody’.  Angus and Henry both nearly reduced us to tears with their beautiful ‘When she loved me’ and ‘Love theme from Cinema Paradiso’ respectively.

Rupert gave a strong performance on the French Horn and Jackie led the dance with his beautiful Introduction and Polonaise by Carl Bohm. Dylan read ‘Music’ by Walter de la Mare with passion and Mack was met quite rightly with hearty applause for his monologues as Romeo and then Captain Hook. The Elstree Jazz Band concluded the evening with ‘C Jam Blue’s and as the boys took their final bow we knew we had been spoiled by the plethora of talent, enthusiasm and passion shown.

We thank all the music and drama teachers for all their help and support, and know that the boys gained a huge amount from the evening as performing to an audience is such an important skill. They have worked very hard and it showed in all their pieces.  We were very proud of every single one of them. Well done boys!
