Opera at Englefield House

On Saturday a number of boys went to see Raucous Rossini’s ‘La Cambiale di Matrimonio’ at Englefield House. This was a student led and self-funded project from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. An hour long, this opera contained all the fireworks and humour that Rossini is known for and condenses it, making for a more flexible and open form of dramatic performance.

The Opera was conducted by Maximillan Fane, an Elstree Old Boy. Half of the money raised will go towards the vital work of Afghan Connection, and will be doubled, managing to send 60 boys and girls to school for the next year. The other half will go towards the large costs of taking an opera on tour to Italy.

The boys had a great evening, and then went to the Reading Riverside to have a pizza!
