Nursery Mummies’ Afternoon

The Nursery children were enormously excited to take their Mummies on an exciting adventure to our Early Years woodland on Friday afternoon. Having kitted up in our newly named ‘Super Suits’, we headed off.  With children running ahead with calls of ‘Mummy, this way’, the sun shone and we were quickly at the entrance to the woods.

After a quick chat about how we stay safe in the woods, we headed down our secret path, minding the holes that the bunnies and squirrels had dug. We got to the balancing log and after some impressive balancing and a quick jump into the woodland square, they all headed down the newly made pine cone path to the fire circle.  Miss Chandler was there with the camp fire lit and our Kelly Kettle boiling.  Hot chocolate, tea and coffee were enjoyed along with some biscuits the children had baked that morning.

The children then headed off into the woods with their Mummies to show them around our wonderful learning environment. With woodland creatures to find, trees to climb, see saws to balance on, fairies to spot and badgers sets to explore there simply was not enough time.

It truly was a wonderful afternoon and one that must be repeated, a request echoed by many parents. We headed home via our Nature area, where the parents got to see how good the children have become at navigating styles and then had a little navigating to do themselves as they ducked under the trees to emerge by the lake.  A stroll back to Home Farm and a wonderful afternoon was over far too quickly.  Many thanks to the Mummies for coming along.  Here’s to our next woodland adventure!
