Music By Candlelight

With over 165 candles lit providing a fabulous setting for our Candlelit Concert, this year the concert raised over £1000 for the St Peter’s Church spire fund.  Inspired perhaps by the sight of the steeplejacks dangling  from the tower  (who we can see as we eat our lunch in the  dining room), the boys sang their hearts out in a range of their favourite church anthems and performed with passion and commitment.

It was lovely to hear the solo voices in many of the pieces and an absolute pleasure to welcome back an old Elstree Boy, Johnny, who gave a dazzling rendition of a movement from the Neruda Trumpet Concerto, ably accompanied by Miss Collins, who supported the entire programme with her sensitive and beautiful playing.

Some well-chosen readings complemented the music and the large audience enjoyed refreshments afterwards in the Long Room.  The whole evening made a suitable end to our Mental Health Awareness Week, in providing an opportunity for reflection, and thankfulness for the gifts and talents of these boys.
