Ludgrove Cross-Country Relays

We had a very enjoyable afternoon at Ludgrove with their well-organised annual cross-country relay races.  The weather had perked up and we had sufficient time to familiarise ourselves with the course which included a fence to vault, a bridge to cross and various inclines.  All this amongst the beautiful surroundings of the Berkshire countryside.

The junior relay started with Toby running the first leg and vaulting the fence in fine style. Harry H ran a very strong second leg.  Harry G running was magnificent and Tom overtook a couple of runners and crossed the finish line in fifth place.  There were 17 teams present so all boys can be very proud of their achievements.

Our senior team had a high standard to follow – our team had bagged the bronze medal at this event last year – and our relay squad was headed by Louis who took off like a bullet.  He then passed on the baton onto Kit Inglis who ran one of the best races of his life.  Third to run was William who gave us a stunning run, followed by Mack who took us further up the field of runners.  Our senior team finished in a very respectable seventh place.

My thanks go to the boys who were great fun to be with and who entered magnificently into the spirit of the afternoon.  They demonstrated such strong and gutsy running. Mack Dale-Jones was a superb captain and, as ever, led by fine example. Sarah, our gapper, was a magnificent extra pair of hands. And to the parents who came to support – thanks for being so loyal, vocal and generally fantastic cheerleaders!
