ISFA U11 Seven-a-side Tournament Berks, Buck and Oxon Heats

Elstree school were hosts to sixteen participating schools in this year’s Berks, Bucks, Oxon Regional U11 sevens tournament. The sun shined on what was a fantastic day of football. The teams where split in to four groups of four with each team playing for a ranking in the “Round of 16” which started the knockout stages of the competition.

In Group ‘A’ Lambrook eased through taking maximum points, Holme Grange finished in second only dropping points against the group winners, followed by LVS Ascot and Thorpe House.  St. Piran’s topped Group ‘B’ with seven points, Ludgrove where a very close second with Oratory Prep in third and St. George’s, Windsor Castle in fourth.  Group ‘C’ saw Cothill House claim three wins, St. Edward’s Prep came second followed by St. Neot’s and Orchard House.  In the final group, ‘D’, Crosfields finished at the top, with Elstree in second followed by Thorngrove and St. Andrews Pangbourne.

In the “round of 16” all four group winners won their respective game to progress on to the quarter finals. They were joined by Ludgrove, Oratory Prep, Elstree and St. Edward’s who beat Thorngrove after penalties.  In the quarter-finals Lambrook, Cothill and St. Piran’s maintained their undefeated runs in what were all very tight games. Ludgrove held group winners Crosfield to a goalless draw and eventually ended their tournament run after penalties.

The semi-finals where set to be extremely exciting games with three of the teams yet to lose a game. St. Piran’s took the lead against Lambrook but Lambrook responded within the minute to pull back level taking it to penalties. Both teams scored some nice penalties but the St. Piran’s goalkeeper got his hand to one to put them in the final. The second semi-final was just as tense, with only one goal separating Cothill House from Ludgrove. In the final St. Piran’s confidence excelled as they ran out 3-0 winners over Cothill House. Both teams qualify for the National Finals at St. George’s Park.
