House Music 2019

After weeks of practice, the time finally arrived for the latest instalment of House Music; this year with a theme of ‘Space’ for the House Song. As is customary, the soloists started the show, followed by the ensembles and concluding with the House Song which involves every member of the House from Year 3-8.

The overall House Music Soloist winner was Henry (South) playing a wonderfully impressive violin solo. Miss Calver (adjudicator and Director of Music at Pangbourne College) commented that Henry played with great control and poise. South were also victorious in the ensemble category with their entertaining performance of ‘Despacito’ resulting in rapturous applause from the audience.

With everything still very much in the balance, and double points up for grabs, it all depended on the House Song. Every House did themselves proud but North’s rendition of ‘Whole of the Moon’ stole the show. It was not enough, however, to prise the overall House Music Cup away from South. Deserving winners indeed. Thank you and well done to all the House staff for their support of the children and to Mrs Westley and Miss Collins for their superb accompanying during the competition.

Here’s to another great competition next year.
