The ‘Sportiest Sports Day Ever’ turned out to be one of the best sports …
There are a number of clubs available for children in Years 1 and 2. The current options are French, tennis, judo, drama, art and football (which changes to athletics during the summer term). There is an additional charge for these clubs which usually run from 3.30pm to 4.30pm, apart from drama which is held at lunchtime.
The Home Farm Choir is also open to those in Years 1 and 2. It is held weekly at lunchtime and those who are members sing their own special songs in the Christmas Play and Summer Concert.
Ducklings After School Club caters for all Nursery and Pre-Prep children every school day from 3.30pm to 6.00pm and is run by a team of energetic and caring staff. The children are given a snack and are then able to enjoy a range of activities, from quietly reading a favourite book to creative pursuits and outdoor play. There is a daily charge for the session which does need to be booked in advance.
Trips and Excursions
Trips are an ideal way to ensure that every child’s learning experience extends beyond the classroom and they also support different aspects of the curriculum. Each year group has the opportunity to visit local places of interest that are linked to topics being studied at school.
Recent trips have included the Nursery visiting Bucklebury Farm, Reception went to Marwell Zoo as part of the topic on ‘Animals around the world’, Year 1 went to Reading Museum to find out what life was like for Victorians as part of their study on ‘Homes in the past’. Year 2 participated in a wonderful day based on life as a Londoner in1666, as they learnt about the trades young people could be apprenticed to in those days and also about the impact of the Great Fire of London.
Home Farm children have also thoroughly enjoyed recent performances by the Blunderbus Theatre Group who have visited us several times. These events are much looked forward to as they involve not only the play, but also workshops with the actors together with a carousel of creative activities associated with the story.
