Headmaster’s XI v Governor’s XI

On a typically beautiful Elstree evening, the Headmaster’s XI took on a Governor’s XI led by Mr Rick Waller on Pavilion.  After the Headmaster won the toss and elected to bat first, some assured batting from old boy Tom Ettridge and Richard Compton-Burnett, bolstered by some trademark power hitting by Mr Champkin, saw a more than respectable score of 138 posted off 16 overs.

The Governor’s XI started their reply steadily and seemed on course for an unlikely victory at one stage.  However, some tight spells of bowling in the middle overs from Mr Wyatt and Mr Morris put the breaks on the run chase and wrestled back the advantage resulting in a 10 run victory in this inaugural match.

Lara provided a brilliant BBQ spread after the game to round off a superb summer’s evening.
