Fathers and Sons’ Tennis
The Elstree School Fathers and Sons’ Tennis Tournament is always a highlight of the summer calendar. This year we had sixteen fathers who gamely joined their sons on Bates for a sunny evening of tennis. All pairs played at least eight matches of three games. The standard of tennis was extremely high this year yet all the games were played in good spirit; the boys made their fathers proud. The tennis captain and his father, Jamie and Simon, won with a total of 21 games. The Smileys and the Williamses were joint runners-up. There was such enthusiasm, the players would have kept going long into the evening had there been sufficient light. Altogether, another successful event in the Elstree tennis calendar.
