Farewell and good luck to our Year 8s

Following the success of their Common Entrance exams, our Year 8s were rewarded with an exciting Leavers’ Programme.

Besides their trip to North Pembrokeshire, they heard from guest speakers, were taught life skills, took a trip to Thorpe Park, and visited Burghfield Sailing Club.  They also made the most of the 150 acres Elstree School has to offer. This was spent kayaking, making home-made pizzas in the outside over, and playing their final wide games in Park.

Of the Guest Speakers, some included parents.  Mr Price kindly gave a lecture on law, Mr Dale-Jones on finance, and Dr Mackinnon on medicine.  Non-parent lectures were given by Mr James Shone, who focused on resilience and looking to the future; by Mr Steve Bates about joining the old boys’ network; and by Mr Johnny Saunders – a Bradfield Housemaster – about life at senior schools.

The boys were also taught invaluable life skills such as ironing, cooking and cleaning, and experienced working on the Elstree estate.

Enormous thanks go to the Guest Speakers, and the Year 8 tutors for investing the time to enrich our boys.

The Programme then concluded with the Leavers’ Dinner and Review on the last night of term, followed by the Leavers’ Service at Douai Abbey. We wish each and everyone of our Year 8s all the best for the future. Have a fantastic summer.
