Exploring the Rainforest

Elstree Pre-Prep Year 2s visited the ‘Living Rainforest‘ – a School Travel Awards Finalist 2019/20 – this week as part of their topic. They explored the wide variety of plant and animal species you’d find in similar conditions, produced outstanding observational drawings, and took part in a rain forest puzzle.

During the tour, our pupils learnt about how certain plants repel water with their waxy coats, while others eat cockroaches. Other highlights included seeing the cheekily loud toucan, adorable monkeys, sleepy sloths and ‘Dave’ the emerald tree snake.

There was even time for a run around the garden, where the children mimicked the animals hanging from ropes and climbing frames. It was safe to say that their imaginations ran wild. An excellent day was had by all.
