European Languages Week Celebration

Each year on the 26th of September, the European Day of Languages takes place across the globe to celebrate the 6,000+ languages spoken around the world. This is a wonderful opportunity to inspire young people and get them excited about learning languages.

At Elstree, pupils have taken part in a variety of tasks and activities to improve language skills and intercultural understanding. From guessing the languages spoken by teachers in class on a set day, to researching interesting facts about other countries including learning a few phrases such as ‘Y?koso’ in Japanese.

To add to this eventful week, Mrs Grant and her team produced a fantastic European inspired lunch, with Greek lamb pittas accompanied by cucumber mint tzatziki, French fries and an Italian salad.  The Neapolitan ice cream was a delight!
