European Language Week Celebration and More!
Each year on the 26th of September, the European Day of Languages takes place across the globe to celebrate the 6,000+ languages spoken around the world. This is a wonderful opportunity to inspire young people and get them excited about learning languages. At Elstree, pupils have taken part in a variety of tasks and activities to increase pluralism and intercultural understanding. From guessing the languages spoken by teachers in class on a set day to researching interesting facts about other countries including learning a few phrases such as Y?koso in Japanese. I am particularly grateful to all teachers who took part in this event.
Well done to all the pupils involved in the House competitions; the results will be known next Monday once Year 7 are back from their French trip.
To add to this eventful week, Mrs Grant and her team planned a fantastic European lunch with Greek lamb pittas accompanied by cucumber mint tzatziki, French fries and an Italian salad The Neapolitan ice cream was also a delight!
