European Day of Languages
Each year the boys and staff look forward to the European Day of Languages which takes place across the globe to celebrate the 6,000+ languages spoken around the world. This is a wonderful opportunity to inspire young people and get them excited about learning languages as well as other cultures. At Elstree, the boys have taken part in a range of activities from guessing the languages spoken by teachers, a house competition quiz, the summer postcard challenge written in a different language, the tongue twisters challenge, the language week assembly, and the use of ICT to enhance language learning skills.
A very well done to all the pupils involved in the House competitions and a big thank you to all the staff taking part.
To add to this eventful week, Mrs Grant and her team produced a fantastic and diverse lunch with a Minestrone soup, Spanish Tortilla, Bratwurst sausages, coddies, an Italian salad, French fries and an Apple sponge pudding with cream (Pwedin Eva in Welsh). For those who were more adventurous, there were delicious paella and calamari too.
