Rugby

Rugby is one of the major sports at Elstree. The season begins in mid-November after the second exeat, and runs through until a week after half term in the Lent Term. During the season the boys have at least two training sessions a week, as well as matches on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. The Under 8 children play tag rugby, before moving onto full contact at Under 9. For the senior boys, the Year 7 and 8 boys are mixed together and we regularly field at least 3 XV’s and very often also a 4th team of XII.  We play fixtures against most of the schools on our circuit.

Over the past few years the 1st XV squad has undertaken a 3 day tour to destinations such as Dublin, Devon and Jersey. We have also entered the prep schools competition at Wellington College, together with entering a team in the National Schools Sevens tournament held at Rosslyn Park in late March.
