Year 6 Play
December 4, 2023Well done to Year 6 for their brilliant performances of “Around the World …
All Year 3 pupils and some of the children in Years 4 to 8 are Day pupils. They enjoy all the benefits of Elstree School life and are always welcome to join in activities in the evenings and at weekends. The School Day starts at 8.15am for everyone and finishes at 5.00pm for Years 3 and 4 and 6.00pm for Years 5-8, except on Wednesday afternoons when everyone finishes at 4.00pm.
The majority of extra-curricular activities take place during the school day but Judo takes place after the end of the school day; there are also sometimes other occasions when all pupils are expected to stay after the school day ends. There is a Late Club for Years 3 and 4 between 5.00 and 6.00pm which is particularly useful for day pupils with siblings in year groups above them and where parents need a later pick-up time.
All pupils and staff eat lunch together in the Dining Hall and refreshments and ‘buns’ are served during morning and afternoon breaks.
Saturday School starts in Year 5 when all Day pupils arrive by 8.15am for Church and lessons in the morning, followed by matches or games in the afternoon usually finishing at 4.00pm. In addition to the Half-term breaks, there are usually two or three exeats per term when there is no Saturday School.
Prep time is structured for each year group within the School Day and so once they get home, there will not usually be further homework to do.
Elstree operates a number of morning bus routes which are available to all children from Nursery through to Year 8.
