Performing & Creative Arts

Alongside the pursuit of academic excellence, rooted in the School’s ethos is the importance of giving children a proper childhood; participating in group and individual activities that develop their own characters and their relationship with others.  Academic achievement coupled with this opportunity to be involved in music, art and drama as well as sport ensures that Elstree remains a preparatory school in the broadest sense of the word.

Art, Music and DT are therefore vital subjects in the education of children and it is important that they are given an equal standing with all other parts of the curriculum. In this light, having recently funded a world-class Science Centre and full-size all weather pitch, the Governor’s plan to add to the School’s offering by renewing the facilities for Music, Art and D.T. in and adjacent to The Coach House.   This development project is currently on-going, and it is planned that the Coach House will be the centre where it will be possible for pupils to develop their creative and musical talents, under expert guidance, to a very high level.
