Elstree House Tennis Competition

House Tennis

With fifty-six children taking part in the Elstree House Summer Tennis Competition, Bates was away with colour and bathed in glorious sunshine.

Senior House Tennis

Forty boys played in the Senior House Tennis Tournament.  A phenomenal 182 games were played, during a highly competitive two hours on the courts. The children played the best of six games per match with every game counting towards the end tally; each game was highly fought over.

The tournament was played in good spirit with many a ‘good shot’ to be heard echoing around Bates.  North House was victorious, winning by only three games. The end result was: North – 62 games, East – 59 games, South – 28 games and West – 33 games. Moreover, the Seniors’ sportsmanship and fine play in the tennis tournament was certainly something to be proud of.

Junior House Tennis

Sixteen of the keenest players from the four houses – North, East, South and West took part in the beautiful sunshine. The matches were played in a round robin format with the 1st pairs playing against the other first pairs and the 2nd pairs playing their counterparts. The standard of tennis was excellent and most importantly the sportsmanship on show was impressive. The end result was 1st – East 23 points, 2nd – North 22 points, 3rd – South 17 points and 4th – West 10 points.

Above all, the Elstree House Summer Tennis Competition was a very colourful and enjoyable afternoon of sport. Game, set and match!
