Elstree Boy is a Soloist at the Reading Choral Concert
The Reading Chorale, a come-and-sing choir directed by singing teacher Amber Nunn, put on a concert of Benjamin Britten’s St Nicolas in Reading last Saturday. This sacred cantata tells the life and legends of Saint Nicolas with choir, semi-chorus, tenor soloist and four trebles.
The event was made possible through a crowd-funding campaign to raise £2400 to cover the costs, which many generous Elstree parents contributed to. Angus was in one of the starring roles as the young St Nicolas and performed his wonderful ‘God Be Glorified’ moments beautifully. It was lovely to have Angus as part of the performance and he really enjoyed the unique opportunity to perform with an orchestra and large choir! He seemed thoroughly inspired by the string quintet and by the tenor soloist – a future professional musician perhaps?!
The workshop day also raised £541.08 for local charity Launchpad. Amber is very grateful to all who supported her event and allowed her to provide such an opportunity to local musicians.
