Eight performers play eight instruments for Year 6 informal concert

The informal concert last Friday was very special. It was the first of the academic year, the first live concert since lock down, the first to have a Year 6 female soloist and the first to be streamed live to parents in the county, around the country and across the world. It did not disappoint.

Eight different performers playing eight different instruments

Year 6 began the programme of informal concerts at Elstree with a crescendo. There were eight performers, playing eight different pieces of music on eight different instruments – cello, violin, clarinet, recorder, drums, flute, piano and trombone.

Head of Music Mrs Westley said: “There was a large variety of instruments, all were played with confidence and Year 6 is to be congratulated for putting together such an enjoyable concert in such a short space of time.”

“Thank you for sharing such an uplifting wonderful concert today. Really lovely to see so many talented children in action. Well done all!” Elstree Parent

Music at Elstree

Music is an important part of Elstree life both within and outside the curriculum. Aside from the year group informal concerts,  there are four choirs, and a variety of orchestras and ensembles to perform with. As many as 75 per cent of our pupils learn an instrument, with some learning two.
