Elstree Strikes Gold Twice at The Manor, Abingdon Cross-Country competition! Not only did George and Akinniran win their races, but the Elstree boys’ team won the overall competition – well done everyone, fantastic results!
On Thursday 12th October, seven cross-country teams from Elstree set off for The Manor, Abingdon. The were eighteen schools present at this beautifully organised event including The Dragon, Summer Fields, The Abbey, Magdalen, Oxford High, Cothill, Cranford House, Abingdon, Warwick Prep, St Hugh’s and St Gabriel’s.
First off were the Year 3 boys. In a field of about 50 runners, special mention must be made of Rex who finished in 5th place, very closely followed by captain William in 6th place. Richard was 8th. In the girls’ race, captain Rosie finished in a very respectable 9th place.
The Year 4 boys’ race was won by captain George. Judging by the determined look on his face, no one was going to beat him! Miles completed the course in 8th position with Oscar in 10th place. In the girls’ race captain Aggie finished in a fantastic 6th position.
The Year 5 boys’ race was won by Akinniran. Watching him run was like watching a future pro. Every step was commanding and powerful. William C finished in 7th place and captain William H in 9th place. In the girls’ race captain Honour was 5th.
In the Year 6 boys’ race captain Tristan finished in a very respectable 8th place with James coming 10th.
Well done to all the runners for putting in such a valiant effort. I have never been prouder of Elstree runners.
