Choral Concerts at Beech Hill and Mapledurham Churches

The final gigs in a packed choral year for the Chapel Choir were two concerts in beautiful village churches last week. On Tuesday we performed to a packed audience in Beech Hill to open their 150th anniversary celebrations and repeated the programme on Friday (with one or two tweaks) in the medieval church in Mapledurham, sited next to the last working water mill on the Thames and made famous by the film “The Eagle has Landed” amongst others.

The boys are at their peak after a year of singing together and delighted and impressed the audience with their strong voices and clear diction. Many of the audience were left in tears as the plaintive “I’m Going up a Yonder” was sung – possibly for the last time by some of these treble voices, and after the tragic events taking place last week we all appreciated the reminder that there is much beauty still to be found in the world.

Well done, Boys and thanks to the staff who supported them.
