Boarders’ Carols

The calm, quiet climax of the boarders’ diary is the Boarders’ Carols and Readings in pyjamas and dressing gowns. Meeting in the front hall in the candlelight, the boarders and staff gathered to hark, herald and sing away while listening to various poems and (comical) renditions. Most memorably, Oliver Burgess stood to deliver a beautiful First Christmas after Silent Night, while Prue Matchwick and Rob Perry read grippingly at their last carols with us. We followed with mulled wine and mince pies and with a jolly red figure bundling down the stairs with a sackful of surprises for Secret Santa. We thank St. Nick for fitting us in. The evening was rounded off in front of the fire for The Snowman and the Year 8s particularly claiming dry eyes at the end…
