Autumn Concert

A large audience was entertained to a varied programme in the Elstree Autumn Concert on Friday afternoon.  Ensembles, large and small were intermixed with solos and choirs to give an excellent hour and a quarter’s entertainment. It was astounding how such works could have been rehearsed and prepared in such a relatively short space of time and such a high standard achieved throughout.  This reflects not only on the commitment and talents of the boys themselves but also their Peripatetic teachers, the Music staff and also parental support at home!

The programme ranged from an orchestral rendering of Grieg’s Hall of the mountain King to a rousing Jazz Band performance of Tuxedo Junction via Mozart String quartets, a guitar ensemble, and a bassoon trio to solos on the piano, clarinet and cello with a beautiful vocal contribution from the Year 5 and 6 choir.

A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon and thanks to Mrs Westley and Miss Collins for masterminding the whole proceedings and encouraging the boys to give of their best.
