A reflective time in France

There was definitely a sombre note to the atmosphere at breakfast yesterday morning, as everyone processed what a big day of history they had ahead.

Visiting the Somme Museum, Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial, the Thiepval Memorial and the Lochnagar Crater, provided a welcome opportunity for reflection, understanding and compassion.

Once back, we discussed our experiences and feelings of the day in French. Our Year 7s used daily repetition of key phrases and pieced together the French vocabulary they had already learnt to form new and unique sentences. This is where the most progress has been made. Although, all of the week’s learning will form the basis of the boys’ Common Entrance studies and final examinations.

Well done Year 7s!  We are really proud of how far you’ve developed your French language skills.
