A BIG weekend for Year 7

The weekend got off to a bright and colourful start with the Elstree bonfire and fireworks display on Friday evening. The Neon Disco was a huge success, and it was no surprise to see how popular the tuck stalls were.

The Year 7’s then all stayed for their ‘Big Weekend’.  Starting on Saturday night, they donned aprons and hats for our Ready, Steady, Cook! event. Cunningly crafted by our catering manager – Lara – and team, the boys faced a series of challenges. In round one, they had to identify a wide variety of produce. Then, they had to make flatbread, koftas and home-made chips.  Pudding involved snowman biscuits and Christmas trees made of fruit. Everyone had a superb time, particularly as everything was so tasty.

On Sunday morning, the Year 7’s had huge amounts of fun playing Zorb football and British Bulldogs on Bates. Meanwhile, the other full boarders had art with Mrs. Sycklemore, and played board games in the library.

After the Year 7’s went home at midday, the full-boarders enjoyed roast chicken for lunch, followed by an afternoon of sport led by Mr. Brown, Miss. Boyd and our Gappers.
