Year 2 trip to Henley Literary Festival

Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic afternoon at the Henley Literary Festival where we met the children’s author, Tom Percival. He entertained the children with ‘live’ interactive drawings and then read his latest book, ‘Ruby’s Worry’.

Tom then showed the children how he drew his illustrations, again with a live demo as the children came up with ideas. We then created our own story by choosing items out of his ‘story case’, which resulted in a funny tale about a lion called Jacob, a turtle called Ann and some anti-zombie juice.

To celebrate the happy ending, Jacob and Ann adopted a chicken called Barry! Of course, the children thought this was hilarious and the author ended the session by putting the story into song accompanied on his guitar. It was an inspirational session for us all! We had lunch in the sunshine by the River Thames before our coach trip home.
