Ready, Steady, Cook

The big weekend for the Year 7s was based around the ‘classic’ tv programme ‘Ready Steady Cook’.  It is fair to say that the evening was a lot better than the programme!  Lara and her team put in a huge amount of work and the first task of guess the vegetable was remarkable for two reasons; firstly, the sheer array of weird and wonderful objects and how well the children did in guessing them.  They are now expecting dragonfruit, kumquats, star fruits and many many more on a daily basis.

Then, in teams they made their own flat breads, koftas and some children learnt to actually peel a  potato to make proper chips! Pudding was an opportunity to create a deconstructed cheesecake but they all went for the traditional approach and not a foam in sight!  Whilst the boys were eating their own creations they were marked on teamwork, creativity, knowledge and of course cleanliness and the winning two teams then got to choose a rather sumptuous treat for one school lunch before the end of term. They all went for prawns to start with and steak for main course.  There could well be a few boys looking on with envy, however, the Headmaster won’t be as he has kindly volunteered to take that table!  The whole weekend was a huge success but the last word must, as always, be about the boys, what a wonderful bunch they were. We are all looking forward to the next one already.
