Primary Earth Summit 2014

This year, for the first time, Elstree entered the Primary Earth Summit competition. It is a competition open to all schools and youth groups in England and this year its theme was plastic waste. The guidelines were to design a poster or set of (signage) posters to; clearly mark plastic recycling collection points, to encourage plastic reuse and recycling and/ or to deter plastic littering. A presentation was also required to explain the purpose of each poster, why the design has been chosen and where children think each poster should be placed and why (could be in schools/ offices and/ or homes).

Fergus, Johnny and Harry decided that they would like to represent the school and spent many breaks meeting up with Miss Pinder to put together their ideas. After much debate the presentation was sent off for judging. On May 9th the shortlist of the top 20 entries were drawn up and Elstree was through!

Fergus, Johnny and Harry will now attend a special training day for the ambassadors of the Primary Earth Summit on Saturday and then will present their final ideas in Parliament on the 16th June.

Well done boys!
