 Children begin Year 1 covering similar subjects to those studied in Reception and build on the foundations put in place in the Early Years. There is a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy. At the same time, the children are exposed to a broad curriculum, ensuring they are able to develop their interests and talents.Year 2 continues to build on the enjoyment and enthusiasm for learning fostered in the Foundation Stage and Year 1, with each curriculum subject being taught separately. We believe it is important to encourage children to progress with confidence and understanding. Our small class sizes allow us to give individual attention and learning support where needed. In preparation for children moving either to Year 3 at Elstree, or other preparatory schools, there is a balance between practical and more formal subject-based activities. There is no examination requirement for boys to transfer into the main school. |
